Population health

Our population

Located on the south coast of England, Wessex is home to approximately three million people.

From our coastal cities to our rural communities, Wessex provides the setting to develop solutions to tackle the health and care challenges experienced in the rest of the UK, and much of the world.

With its state-of-the-art research facilities and world-leading centres, Wessex is an exciting place to deliver research and develop innovations which can address health inequalities and create far-reaching and positive impact.

Our work

Population health is a priority area for Wessex Health Partners. We want to improve the health and wellbeing of the Wessex population, helping people to live happy and healthy lives.

We’re working with partners to develop our understanding of the health and care needs of our local population and identify where research, innovation and training can provide a solution.

By creating a culture of collaboration, we’re making it easier for health and care professionals, researchers and innovators across Wessex to form partnerships. By sharing our knowledge regionally, nationally and internationally, we're strengthening our collective impact.

We’re mobilising the region’s expertise to discover, develop and deploy research and innovation programmes which can address local priorities, reduce health inequalities, transform health and care services, and improve outcomes for our population.

This work is accelerating improvements in health and care and speeding up the translation of discoveries from early scientific research into real-world benefits for patients and the public in Wessex and beyond.
