Network:

Wessex Women and Girls

Wessex Women and Girls Research and Innovation Network is a bold new initiative dedicated to transforming the health and wellbeing of women and girls across our region

Why the Wessex Women and Girls Research and Innovation Network Matters

Women make up over half of the UK population, yet their health needs have long been underserved. From menstrual health to menopause, pregnancy to mental wellbeing, women face unique challenges that require dedicated attention and specialist insight. Historically, healthcare systems have been shaped around male experiences, leaving critical gaps in research, access, and outcomes for women and girls.

The Wessex Women and Girls Research and Innovation Network is here to change that. By bringing together researchers, clinicians, healthcare providers and community voices, the network is driving forward inclusive, evidence-based solutions that reflect the real-life experiences of women across every stage of life. Our mission is to embed gender equity into healthcare and research - so that women’s health is no longer overlooked.

Together, we are building a future where every woman and girl receives the care, support, and attention she deserves.

Powered by Partnership

The Wessex Women and Girls Research and Innovation Network is rooted in strong, strategic collaboration. It builds on the ongoing partnership between Wessex Health Partners and our local Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) in Dorset and Hampshire & Isle of Wight - all united by a shared commitment to improving health outcomes for women and girls across the region.

This partnership brings together expertise from across academia, healthcare, and community services, creating a powerful foundation for innovation.
Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do - because meaningful change happens when we work together.
