Network:
Clean Air South was established by founding members: The University of Southampton’s Sustainability and Resilience Institute, Wessex Health Partners, The University of Southampton Civic Centre and Winchester City Council
Our ambition is simple: to improve the quality of air we breathe
Convened by the University of Southampton, Wessex Health Partners and local authorities, Clean Air South brings together a growing number of academics, health leaders, local government officers, business leaders and industry leaders. We are pooling ideas, resources and expertise to respond best to this urgent health challenge which is costing lives.
Our approach is collaborative, partnership and multi-sector focused. No one organisation can tackle air quality - we can only do this by working together. We are focused on evidence-based action and results. This means we are willing to facilitate independent, objective and robust research into the causes, impact and improvement of air quality in the region, and communicate these findings widely.
Clean Air South is committed to engaging with any organisation or individual with skills, views and experience relevant to air quality in our region.
Please note, we are not a campaigning group and we do not apportion blame.
Aims
Geography
Broadly, Clean Air South embraces Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
Within this large geographical area, interest and influence varies among partners and members of the steering group. We therefore take a fluid approach to boundaries, inclusive of partners and organisations in the wider Solent region.
Membership
Clean Air South intends to learn from, collaborate with, and add value to all organisations working in the clean air arena.
The network focus and initiatives are fluid and guided by the network community. As such membership is welcomed from any individual across the Wessex region, with interest or expertise in air pollution, and a desire to facilitate collective change to improve the health and wellbeing of the population in relation to air quality.
We welcome colleagues from all backgrounds and organisations including NHS organisations, higher education institutions, voluntary community and social enterprises, industry, and others.
